Barça Set to Play First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in La Liga over two years since relocating so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, a rise from the old capacity. The club said finished work included a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch in early November. They mentioned they are seeking authorization from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt in December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
