Defiant Wilfried Nancy insists he is not worried about being fired yet Celtic fans show anger after loss.

The Celtic boss declared he had no concerns about the sack, asserting, “I believe we are really close to things turning around,” despite moving dangerously close to being fired with a convincing defeat by the Ibrox side.

A Second-Half Capitulation Sees Old Firm Defeat

The home side were ahead their oldest rivals at half-time but a collapse after the break allowed Danny Röhl’s team to draw level on points with the defending Scottish Premiership champions. Nancy, who was appointed from the MLS, has now presided over six losses in eight matches.

“The board and I are united with the board,” said Nancy.

Questioned about his own future, the 48-year-old said: “It’s not on my mind. My focus is on discovering solutions to aid my players to excel on details.

Supporters' Anger Erupts

Hundreds of supporters displayed their anger – aimed at the board and manager – in their hundreds at full time. The hierarchy are reportedly likely to bring back Martin O’Neill, who steered the club during a temporary stint before Nancy was hired, if Nancy departs.

“It’s the results [that leads to pressure]. That is the situation for the moment. But by saying that’s how it is, it doesn’t mean that I am pessimistic. Not at all. The message is we are on the cusp, imminently close to reverse our form.”

Focus on the Details

The coach highlights the fact his team play well for 45 minutes at a time. Indeed, if not for missed chances they could have been better than 1-0 up. “The performance had merit aside from the fact that we missed our chances,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but it's important to stay fair.

“The standard we had at stages was of top quality. This is the reality. I could not speak so positively if it was untrue. Therefore, regarding outcomes, I mentioned it's a repeating pattern. For that reason I believe we are nearly there to a shift in fortunes. Currently: the fine margins.”

“There were many, many good things that we did, once more. However is consistency. My message would change the same. Therefore I am a big believer we’re going to be able to fix this.”

Opposition Reaction Stance

The victorious boss played down talk of a serious challenge despite what appeared to be a huge result. “We take it game by game, and we can really build up a challenge,” he said. “The belief in the squad is immense.”
