An Australian man that leaped across a fence and grabbed celebrity Ariana Grande has been sent away and banned from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, aged 26, was given a sentence to nine days in detention for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority told Singaporean press.

Wen pushed beyond security and charged at the celebrity, who was participating in the regional launch for the film on 13 November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

The individual has a record of causing disturbances at events and celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the pop star's Australian show in the past June.

The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people saying he of causing further distress to the star.

The singer has mentioned dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a explosive incident at her performance in the English city in May 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 people and injured hundreds.

During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event on two occasions, according to regional reports.

He then made a second attempt to cross the barriers. Security staff stopped him and pinned him down.

Wen later posted videos expressing gratitude to the star for permitting his access and said he was "released."

Law enforcement detained him the next day and charged him with public nuisance, to which the man admitted guilt.

The Court Judge Christopher Goh was referenced by Channel News Asia as remarking that Wen was "attention seeking", adding that he was wrong to believe he would not experience repercussions.

The singer has not addressed the incident.

The co-star discussed the situation to NBC, saying that she "only aimed to verify my co-star was safe."

"I believe he had no intention to us danger, but you can't predict with such situations, and I aimed to make sure that she was alright. That was my initial reaction," she said.
