President Trump Calls Loved Ones of Attacked Guard Soldiers to White House
President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.
Background on the Heartbreaking Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.
White House Offer
The president stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with him, recover or not.”
Public Response
Attendees gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to honor Beckstrom.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid law enforcement in Washington DC.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that educators hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the media. “She was caring, caring and always willing to support those in need.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Legal Actions and Policy Adjustments
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The incident prompted the administration to suspend refugee claims and cease granting entry permits to holders of travel documents.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.
He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
