Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world had expressed its support for the star in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
